Draft pending legal review. This policy describes the intended data practices of the product as designed. Before launch it must be reviewed by counsel and completed with the operating entity, its jurisdiction, a privacy contact address, the list of processors actually in use, and the state-specific rights disclosures required by applicable law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended and comparable state statutes.
The short version
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Your individual assessment is private to you and is never indexed by search engines.
- Assessment data and uploaded documents are encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Sensitive assessment content and document text are never sent to third-party analytics tools.
- Aggregated benchmarking uses anonymized data with minimum group sizes, so no individual is identifiable.
- You can delete your assessment and your account at any time.
What we collect
Assessment information
The answers you give: state of employment, industry, employer size, job title and level, compensation, dates of employment, the reason employment ended, performance history, details of the severance package and agreement terms, and any circumstances you choose to describe. Employer name is optional.
Documents you upload
If you choose to upload a severance agreement or related document, we store the file and the structured information extracted from it. Uploading is optional; the assessment works without it.
Contact information
An email address, if you provide one to receive your assessment or to create an account. Accounts use email sign-in links rather than passwords.
Technical and usage information
Standard web request data, the page you arrived on, the referring site, and any campaign parameters in the link you followed. This is how we learn which content is useful. It is kept separate from the content of your assessment.
What we do with it
- To produce your assessment, including the calculations, the factor evaluation, the AI-generated recommendation and explanation, and the negotiation letter.
- To send you your results and, if you consent, follow-up messages relevant to your severance decision window. Every message includes an unsubscribe link.
- To let you return to your assessment if you create an account.
- To improve the product, including reviewing extraction failures and correction patterns.
- To build anonymized benchmarks, described below.
- To operate and secure the service, and to comply with legal obligations.
AI processing
Your assessment information is processed by Anthropic’s Claude models to generate the recommendation, the explanation, and the negotiation letter, and to extract structured fields from any document you upload. This processing happens under a commercial API agreement. We do not use your information to train third-party models.
Anonymized benchmarking
A core purpose of this product is to eventually tell people how their offer compares to real reported offers rather than to general practice. That requires aggregating data across many assessments.
Aggregation uses de-identified records stripped of direct identifiers, and any published or displayed statistic must meet a minimum cohort size so that no individual situation can be inferred from it. Employer name, where provided, is not used in any published benchmark that could identify an individual. If you delete your data, your record is removed from future aggregates.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with employers. We use service providers to operate the product, which at minimum includes hosting, database, file storage, email delivery, and AI processing. Each is bound by contract to process data only on our instructions.
We may disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the service.
To complete before launch. Name the actual processors in use, with their role and location.
Analytics
We use web analytics to understand which pages help people. Assessment answers, document content, and the specifics of your severance package are never sent to analytics tools, and identifying information is never placed in a URL. What analytics sees is which pages were viewed and which steps were reached, not what you entered.
Security
- Encryption in transit and at rest.
- Access controls limiting internal access to those who need it.
- Audit logging of access to assessment records and documents.
- Secrets management and no storage of credentials in application code.
- Assessment and results pages are excluded from search engine indexing and are not publicly addressable.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise.
Retention
Assessments and uploaded documents are retained while your account is active so you can return to them, and are deleted on request. Where you did not create an account, records are retained for a limited period and then deleted or de-identified. Anonymized aggregate statistics, which are no longer linked to you, may be retained.
Your choices
- Delete your assessment or your account. Done from your account, or by contacting us.
- Get a copy of your data. On request.
- Correct it. You can edit your assessment answers at any time.
- Unsubscribe from email. A link is in every message.
- Decline to upload anything. The assessment works without a document.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights, including rights to access, deletion, correction, portability, and to opt out of certain processing. We honour those rights and do not discriminate against anyone for exercising them.
Children
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and, where the change affects how we use information you have already given us, tell you directly.
Contact
To complete before launch. Privacy contact address, postal address of the operating entity, and the jurisdiction whose law governs.
